Account Manager - Contractor

Reports to: Director, Account Management Team

The Account Manager will have medical communications agency experience and be responsible for communicating with marketing, medical, sales, education, and training associates and managers in the pharmaceutical/healthcare marketplace. They will collaborate with product marketing teams to develop cost-effective communication strategies to educate and motivate a defined target audience. They will also develop and present business proposals to existing clients to expand our business. They will manage client expectations, physician opinion leaders, and strategic partners, as well as collaborate with operations and scientific innovations teams to complete multiple projects.

Essential Functions

  • Lead the development of client relationships in existing and new accounts
  • Gain a deep understanding of communication offerings, product marketing, and competitive/external environmental factors 
  • Lead the team in strategic planning for a therapeutic product class, product, or disease area. Manage brand planning, calls with AORs, and proactive account recommendations 
  • Develop, communicate, and manage business forecasts and client targets within assigned existing client base 
  • Work within cross-functional teams to translate strategy into goals/tasks for implementation 
  • Create, present, and execute marketing strategies and proposals for existing clients 
  • Become well educated in the appropriate regulatory and governmental environments impacting clients and projects 
  • Develop proposals and budget estimates for additional work within assigned accounts
  • Understand publication planning processes, guidelines, and best practices (a plus)

  • Knowledge and creativity to consult and develop strategic marketing and educational programs
  • Proven sales experience, product management, or client management experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry
  • Knowledge and understanding of current OIG and PhRMA guidelines

Education/experience:

College degree (advanced degree a plus) with 5+ years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience in medical education, pharmaceutical marketing, and/or pharmaceutical advertising.

Position Location:

This is a contract/remote position. Must have flexibility to travel to clients and projects. Position requires travel to service accounts, sell new business, and to attend programs, often over weekends. Account Managers are frequently required to be available outside of regular working hours.
